I did some research on whether it is bad manners or not to slurp your soup. And this is what I found.
Please note that the following answers are not mine. And not intended to be considered to be my thoughts or my feelings.
This is like the oldest of all the "Miss Manners" questions. Yeah, in most of the world it's considered the bad manners.
Manners at the table aren't as rigid as they used to be, but listening to slurping is straight up annoying, whether your in the dinning room or sitting in your recliner with a beer.
In the United States slurping is only a bad habit if you are with others. If you are home alone...slurp to your hearts content.
It is definitely bad manners. Worse than salting your food before getting a taste.
absolutely. Slurping is a bad habit, and bad manners. No one should be able to hear you inhale your soup.
But personally, I do find the slurping sound rather annoying. My preference is people should not slurp their soup. If it really is that hot, then wait until it cools down. If you are slurping because you have too much on your spoon, then don't put so much on. If you are slurping just to annoy someone, then you have bigger issues than slurping your soup.

How do you feel about punctuation? You seem to fear it.
ReplyDeletePunctuation is important, but also understand that sometimes missing a period or a comma, using and extra exclamation point or semicolon is not going to dismantle my who life and make me go into the fetal position and be depressed for days.
