Welcome

Welcome to my blog. I am pleased to say that this is just a sounding board to start a conversation with multiple people without having to be in the same place at the same moment. So please come with an open mind, that we all have our own opinions and this is not a place to try and change those opinions.

DISCLAIMER: My opinions are not meant to hurt anyone's feelings and are not meant to single any one person out as the object of the blog entry. These entries are here to help me work out my own issues in my life. I feel that this is kinda like therapy for me, once I hit post then it's like I let that issue go and it's gone.

Ketchup

How many people like ketchup?

It's amazing the number of people that said I do, I do, I do!!!!

It's also amazing the amount of people that said I use ketchup to drown the taste of someone's cooking just because it tastes gross and you don't want to hurt that person's feelings.

So what's with society not wanting to hurt people's feelings? Is it because, they feel guilty for doing so? It's the same thing as saying no to someone and meaning it. I think it boils down to, how you would feel if someone hurt your feelings or said no to you. I also think it's we have the expectation that we should always get what we ask for.

What do you think?

  1. Well, I do like ketchup. I too also use ketchup to hide or mask gross food. Why do I do it, because sometimes you just have to suck it up, with a little bit of ketchup of course, and eat it just because it is good for you. And, sometimes it is just good for you to be nice or kind to another, with a little bit of ketchup to help. Even if I think I should always get what I want or ask for, it is not good for me to always get it - you have heard that expression, everything in moderation, so all hail ketchup and all hail sucking it up. Live long and prosper! :)

  2. I am also for sucking it up, but there comes a time when it's not good to suck it up all the time, and I don't think it helps the other person when you feel that you can't be honest. And I don't think it's good for yourself to not always be honest. Basically what I am saying is everyone is different and the degrees of when to suck it up and when to be honest is dependent upon the caliber of relationship you have with each friend. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't saying that it wasn't good to be nice, I was just wondering why society as a whole never wants to hurt someone else's feelings. And also what I meant by always expecting to get everything we ask for, I meant that society has high expectations for what they want and when they want it.
